To get started saving electricity around your home, just follow these easy rules:

1. Turn off the lights when you are done using them,
and turn off the tv, computer, video games and other electrical stuff when you leave the room.

2. Do not leave, tv, dvd or other appliances
on standby mode as it uses a lot of electricity. Always ask a grownup to power off from the switch.
3. Do not leave the refrigerator door open.
Every time you open the door, up to one-third of the cold air can escape.

4. Ask grown ups to replace an incandescent bulb to an energy saver bulb.
Energy savers use 75% less energy, and they last 10 times longer.

5. Do remind grown-ups to use cold water in the washing machine.
Hot water would not get the clothes any cleaner, and it wastes a lot of energy.

6. Utilize air conditioning only
when it is really hot outside otherwise use fans!
7. Limit computer usage, watching tv and indoor games,
outdoor sports not only help you keep healthy but also help you to save energy.
8. Close the curtains during hot summer days to block the sun.
During the winter, keep the curtains open.

9. Decide what you want from the refrigerator or freezer before you open them so you do not waste electricity by standing there looking inside and keeping the door open.
10. Do help your mom or dad plant a tree
to help shade your house on hot summer days.
